We are sure you enjoy cooking Italian a few days a week, whether you are a professional chef or a passionate home cook. Chances are spaghetti is one of the first things you learned to cook; it’s hard to get it wrong, but how hard is it to prepare it just right?
Italian food finds its beauty in simplicity. You can only cook great Italian food with amazing ingredients, and the finest come from Italy.
Then there is the human factor. Italy’s best cooks, everyone’s mothers, have endless well-kept secrets that make authentic Italian food taste like glory. Learn a few of the secrets behind fresh pasta, Italian sauces, salads and desserts, in Cantina del Vesuvio’s cooking classes.
Why take a cooking class?
There is no better way of making the most out of your trip to Italy than to take a proper cooking class. An Italian cooking class itself warrants a trip to Italy!
Cook with local organic ingredients, hand in hand with a traditional Italian cook, and take back home intimate knowledge of what makes authentic Italian cooking the finest cuisine on earth.
An experience hard to forget.
Begin your day visiting Cantina del Vesuvio’s vineyards at the foothills of the imposing Mount Vesuvius. Some of the greatest wine in the country comes from the rolling hills sheltered by the active volcano and refreshed with the breeze coming up from the Naples Bay.
Enjoy an apéritif based on our Capafresca Spumante Rosé served with wood-fired baked bread, organic oil of olive, and our unique sweet vinegar.
Visit the winery’s garden and collect authentic Italian produce, local specialties found nowhere else, all grown organically with the utmost care. As you know, good food starts in the garden.
Then it is almost time for lunch, and that means it is time to get cooking. Learn to prepare some of the most traditional local dishes and the historical and cultural context behind them.
Cook with the scents, flavors, and colors of Mt. Vesuvius and the knowledge of the winery’s own mamma. Ester will share a few of her secrets for authentic Italian food with you and guide you through the process so no experience is needed.
The menu.
Make your own Ravioli alla Caprese, a specialty from the neighboring Capri Island. You will love our heirloom Piennolo tomatoes and cook a Parmigiana alla Napolitana, a classic with a Neapolitan twist. You have never tasted eggplants like these.
For a sweet ending, we will make a Torta di Mandorle al Limone, an almond cake flavored with local Sorrento lemons and served with an apricot liqueur made in the region.
What’s lunch without a wine pairing? We serve four Lacryma Christi wines, top-of-the-line Bianco, Rosato, Rosso, and Riserva, all made with native grapes.
After your cooking class, you will be able to relax and enjoy our vineyards. The experience lasts 3:30 to 4:00 hours, but your memories and newfound knowledge will last a lifetime.
